Piccadilly Circus
At the heart of London’s entertainment district, Piccadilly Circus is busy day and night. People congregate below the statue of Eros, the Greek god of love, placed there in 1892 as a monument to the philanthropist Lord Shaftesbury, who gave his name to the avenue that runs off to the north-east. Bright neon signs mark the entrances to Soho and Chinatown, with their restaurants and nightclubs.
