Full-day Private Tour of Windsor Castle, Eton & Hampton Court Palace with Chauffeurs UK

Berkshire: Windsor Castle in Autumn (www.britainonview.com)Windsor Castle, the largest and oldest occupied castle in the world, is one of the official residences of Her Majesty The Queen. The Castle's dramatic site encapsulates 900 years of British history. It covers an area of 26 acres and contains, as well as a royal palace, a magnificent chapel.

The State Apartments are furnished with some of the finest works of art from the Royal Collection, including paintings by Rembrandt, Rubens, Canaletto, Gainsborough and the famous triple portrait of Charles I by Sir Anthony van Dyck.

In 1992 fire destroyed or damaged more than 100 rooms at the Castle. By good fortune the rooms worst affected were empty at the time, and as a result, few of the Castle's artistic treasures were destroyed.  The highly acclaimed restoration work, completed in 1997, is a testament to the extraordinary skills of some of the finest craftsmen in Europe.

From October to March visitors can also enjoy George IV's private apartments (the Semi-State Rooms), among the most richly decorated interiors in the Castle.

St George's Chapel is one of the finest examples of Gothic architecture in England. Within the chapel are the tombs of ten sovereigns, including Henry VIII and his third wife Jane Seymour, and Charles I.

Among the highlights of a visit to Windsor is Queen Mary's Dolls' House, the most famous dolls' house in the world.

Berkshire: Eton CollegeA footbridge across the Thames connects Windsor with Eton and its famous school, where Princes William and Harry were educated, and downstream is the meadow at Runnymede where King John signed the Magna Carta in 1215.

London: Hampton Court Palace, Privy GardenHampton Court Palace was begun by Cardinal Wolsey in 1514 and then appropriated by Henry VIII in 1529 when Wolsey fell from favour. It was extended by Henry and then once more in the late 17th and early 18th centuries by William and Mary, at which time Christopher Wren, architect of St Paul's Cathedral in London, redecorated the chapel. Formal, Dutch-style gardens and attractive parklands surround the Palace.

England is truly a land of enchantment from the architectural masterpieces throughout London to the picturesque countryside in The Lake District. Your vast knowledge of both these elements enhanced my visit ten fold. There is nothing I could have read or seen that would have prepared me for what I experienced.

Your attention to detail and genuine concern for comfort and enjoyment is second to none.

Sincerely,

David Mack – Florida, USA

Floyd and I want to thank you for the excellent tour you took us on. It definitely made my first trip to England very special. Thanks to you, in looking through the pictures, I also can recall the stories and history that goes along with them. The trip had some great memories, but it was too short, so I definitely have a list of things I still want to see in England. I'm sure we'll be contacting you again.

Take care, and thanks again.
